Our organization offers friendship, social support and education to families with multiples, parents expecting multiples, and parents who have experienced the loss of a multiple.  Whether you have twins, triplets or more our club our members know what it's like to have hands and hearts full. Year after year, lasting friendships are made with the help of our club. None but another parent of multiples understands the benefits and challenges that raising twins, triplets and more presents.

 

Our private, members only website, and e-mail updates will keep you informed regarding all club activities, adult outings, zone socials, childrens activities and more.  We offer our members educational materials, exciting programs at monthly meetings, holiday events, and most importantly, support for our new parents of multiples.  One of the most appreciated of these services has been our long standing tradition of delivering meals to the homes of members who become new moms of multiples. There is certainly very little time to cook with two, three or even more newborn babies in the house.

JACKPOTT Jacksonville June Swap

JACKPOTT members from the Once a Month Cooking Club met last night to exchange meals, enjoy hors d'oeuvres, wine and each other's company. Each month each member makes 10 meals that feed 4-6 people and swaps them with other members. Typically members make five of one type of entree and five of another, this month I made five bean burrito entrees and five Southwestern pulled pork with tortillas and Spanish rice entrees. So each member goes home with ten different meals to feed her family. Members aim to spend about $85 for all 10 meals or $8.50 total per meal (about $1.70 per serving). This is much less expensive than eating out, healthier than frozen prepared meals and saves us loads on our grocery bills.

One of the things I enjoy most, besides the good company, chatter, food and wine, is the variety of entrees I go home with. This month there was turkey tetrazzini, chicken divan, Indian inspired shrimp, manicotti, western casserole, gourmet meatloaf and more! In addition there is nothing like extra time with my family. My husband gets to go out to the freezer at the beginning of each week and select a few entrees to put in the frig to thaw. Then when I get home from work all I have to do is pop them in the oven or pan and we can all enjoy time together.

The JACKPOTT OAMC meets the third Monday of each month at a member home. All members are welcome to participate.

JACKPOTT June General Meeting Features Gymboree Speaker

  The General Meeting on June 9 featured a speaker from Gymboree, Jacksonville, Amy Pattison. Amy is the owner of Jacksonville's Gymboree developmental program for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Most parents of multiples are well aware of Gymboree's past policy that only allowed multiples to participate if there was an adult present for each child. That meant that if you had twins you would have to bring your spouse, partner or nanny with you for each class, which is not necessarily possible. For triplets this becomes even more difficult as most triplet families are not able to find three adults to bring to each and every class. For that reason, most multiple families chose to seek out developmental gym like programs at other companies, even if they really liked what Gymboree had to offer.

Amy explained the traditional reasons for this policy, the focus on what is best for the child, one on one attention in class. She also talked about the decision to change the policy and allow parents of multiples to decide what is best for their children and allow them to bring their multiples without an adult for each multiple. The group in attendance applauded this decision as most of us have wanted to spend one on one time with our children many many times. We also realize that it is often impossible when you have two children of the same age.

Amy also discussed several exclusive discounts to be offered to JACKPOTT members which of course we were very excited about. Paying for two and three memberships to everything at once is always a challenge with multiples. Discounts are right up our alley.

Other topics discussed at the meeting were upcoming meeting topics including Technology on July 14 including an overview of Facebook and Twitter and an upcoming fitness bootcamp.
